Behind the Scenes-Creating the 2 Dresses for Big Fake Wedding -Austin

Last night went so great at Big Fake Wedding-Austin. We met a lot of awesome people, and Taylor looked amazing in our two dresses we created for her.

Here are some behind the scenes photos of creating the dresses for BFW.

Very beginning steps of cutting out the laces for the dresses after creating her custom patterns.

New Custom Order Pictures and Big Fake Wedding

Very happy to hear our event, Big Fake Wedding-Austin is now sold out. See all of you there that have already purchased tickets for our 10/22 show.

I've been creating two dresses for the event, one for bride, Taylor, to wear for the Ceremony, and another dress for the Reception.

All the vendors for the event were given the same inspiration, so that we create a cohesive wedding. I made sure my designs were modern, and simple. Less is more, west coast foliage were a couple phrases we were given to go by.

I received a picture from our lovely bride Taylor, and designed around her. I wanted to keep her comfortable, and supported all day, but also giving her an unique dress to wear.

I'll post more pictures on my instagram, follow me at instagram.com/desireemariedesign

I've also been working on some custom orders since reaching my new city of Austin this month.

Custom Wedding Dress-Vania

In the past couple months, I had the great pleasure working with my photographer and friend, Vania, in creating her wedding dress.

Final fitting.

Final fitting.

We had a short time period, but we made it work!

With lots of sketches, and meetings, and emails later, we came up with a two piece ensemble for her backyard wedding.

Since she is a florida bride, and was also having her wedding on the beach, we wanted the fabrics to be light and delicate. So we chose chantilly lace and silk georgette both in ivory.

What was unique about making Vanias' dress was, she was loosing baby weight. I ended up taking in the dress at least an additional 1" every where on our last fitting.

She styled her dress beautifully with a flower crown made by a friend, and lace sandals.

Very happy I had the opportunity to work with her one more time before I move.

                                      Congratulations!

Custom Wedding Dress Order- Jahmi

Jahmi contacted me months ago with some inspiration pictures for her custom wedding gown. We exchanged almost 50 emails and came up with her perfect dress custom made in her measurements.

After reviewing pictures and discussing details, and fabric, I sketched her dress. She approved and I began the process.

Even though we did not meet in person, she was able to meet with her local tailor to get properly measured.

Sending pictures along the way, Jahmi was able to see her dress while it was getting made.

Shipped her dress all the way to New Jersey.  Read her review after receiving her wedding dress below:

"Received my dress and tried on-SO AWESOME! I am just so impressed with your work and so happy about the turn out. Everything came out so great! Will send pictures for sure!!!"

I will post her pictures later this year on this post, and pictures of her custom veil will be up soon.

Custom Order-Lace Applique Dress

I was contacted by a woman here in Lakeland to make a custom dress in only 2 weeks. I was up for the challenge, and accepted. I was happy to be highly recommended by my local fabric store, Hancocks.

She had this picture of Karlie Redd on her phone, and said she wanted it just like it, but in black lace.

The lace was the most difficult to find, and especially stressed because of time, I went to every fabric store I could to find the most perfect lace that could be cut out and strategically applied to a nude mesh.

I found the lace, of course, at sewing studio-maitland, fl. I also picked up this awesome tee they made.

I got to work on the nude mesh pattern first, and then started tediously cutting out the lace from the mesh lace fabric.

Spent way too much time cutting the lace out for the amount charged. I needed to hand sew the lace on all around the bust, and machine stitched every where else.

The lace was placed all over the front, and two lines going down center back, and only three pieces above elbow, cuffs around the wrists, and dripping down unto the skirt.

The contrast of the lace on the mesh is more noticeable in black on nude, than white on nude, so I'm glad we went with black lace. My customer wore to a little black dress party, and I'm sure was 'best dressed'.

New Collection Inspiration and BTS

Over the past couple months, I have been busy working on my newest collection, Into the Woods.

I went into my own backyard for inspiration.

Bringing home some twigs and branches to spray paint, and make one-of-a-kind headpieces, and appliques for my bridal sashes.

I want my dresses to make my brides feel like a woodland fairy princess, and that is my inspiration for this collection.

Happy Customers

I was contacted by this pretty ladies mother, who wanted to surprise her with a birthday dress for her 18th. I love getting pictures from my happy customers, and this picture is a gem, the dress matches her decor perfectly.

She's wearing a custom Marie Dress, from my Marie Antoinette Inspired Bridesmaid collection.

Her Review: "perfect dress for my daughters 18th bday! fabric was amazing! quality made!! thanks so much!!!"

Happy to help with your big day, any way I can. Altered a David's Bridal beaded gown. I took the dress in, up, and added ties to bustle up the train. I also charged her a lot less than her quote from David's Bridal.

Her review: "The dress fits perfect!! Thank you again. You're awesome "

all about custom-made Wedding dresses: BTS to Wedding

Updated March 1, 2019

It's your wedding day, you deserve to feel confident and look fierce!  I love creating custom pieces for my customers. Everyone's body type is different. We all have our assets we would like to showcase (bow chica wow wow) and our not-so-great parts we prefer not to hight light. I will work with you to create your dream wedding dress that will compliment your shape and personal style.

But how does this process work?

The first step is discussing your general wants and needs ( including measurements, see measuring guide ). Options for this include meeting in person( Florida residents), Skype, phone, or email.  Mood boards or pinboards are great conversation starters. After I have all the information I need I will move forward to the sketching phase. I also use this time to gather swatches for our review.

Once we have agreed on sketches and swatches I will order the fabrics, and first create a sample of your piece in a similar, less expensive fabric so we can see how the piece will look before using our fashion fabric. Then once we get the fit perfect, I will go back to my sewing cave & create the final custom pieces. Time for this process may vary depending on how simple or complicated the piece(s) are.

Then once I have completed your dress, you can come to pick it up at my studio to ensure you have the perfect fit, (additional fittings may apply) or I will send it to you. (plan to receive your dress 8-10 wks before your wear date if received by mail for possible alterations)

The last step is for you is to get married and party! Oh, and brag to all your friends about it! Well, humbly of course as you hand them my card.

I look forward to doing business with you.

Cheers!
